A patent on an algorithm for Intensity Modulated Arc Therapy (IMAT) in radiation treatment planning has been approved. Athula Gunawardena of UW-Whitewater is one of the applicants along with Robert Meyer and Michael Ferris of UW-Madison.

Very Successful Workshop

Thanks for attending the Internship/Undergraduate Workshop. Approximately 50 students and 25 others turned out to hear student panelists relate their experiences working on internships and research projects. They also heard from industry professionals representing Blackthorne Capital Management, EdViewRate, Epic Systems, QuadtechWorld and Schenck Process North America.
As a result of this workshop, over 15 students applied for found work within the Computer Science Program through research grants. Still others will be able to find work with companies doing summer internships.

Internship/Undergraduate Research Workshop 9/11/13

The Computer Science Program in conjunction with ACM (Association of Computing Machinery) is holding an Internship/Undergraduate Research Program in McGraw 101 on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 5:30-7:30. This program is intended for all Computer Science majors and minors and other IT related majors and minors of all levels. Freshmen and Sophomores are encouraged to attend. Other faculty and staff interested in learning about the internship and research opportunities available within this program are also welcome to attend. There will be industry panelists and alumni present as well.

We would like to welcome our newest tenure-track faculty members, Dr. Cheng Thao and Dr. Zachary Oster. Both have completed their Ph.D.s in Software Engineering.

Dr Thao finished his Ph.D. at UW-Milwaukee and joined UW-Whitewater as a lecturer in 2012. Dr. Oster comes to us from Iowa State and will begin teaching at UW-Whitewater this Fall.

The College of Letters and Sciences is working with a new alumni mentor who is a software engineer for L-3 communications.

The mentor program connects students with alumni as a way of introducing students to professional life and future careers. More information and an application form is available on-line at ( student protégé application). This could be an opportunity for you to build your portfolio, network and gain valuable experiences toward your future goals.

Consider filling out the application to be a mentee!
