The Computer Science major is geared toward students who want to pursue careers in software engineering, commercial software production, systems programming, web development, and network, database, or computer design.
In addition, the department offers several minors/emphases for students who would like a stronger background in computer science and mathematics to complement their chosen major.
The computer science major consists of 2 emphases. The general emphasis consists of 8 core courses plus 4 emphasis courses (2 courses from each of 2 specialization areas). Both BA and BS degree choices provide students with a strong background for advanced study at the graduate level. The comprehensive emphasis is a 65 credit major which does not require a minor.
