Blackline Consulting is growing and would like to hire current UW-W students or recent grads to fill two openings. The company is based in Illinois but the students would work in Whitewater. This is an excellent opportunity and the second semester our university has partnered with Blackline. For more information, see their website careers page.
If you are interested in professional development opportunities, are currently a student majoring in a STEM field and an underrepresented minority student (see info. below), there are opportunities available for you. Please contact either Catherine Chan or Juk Bhattacharyya in the Office of Undergraduate Research.
Office of Undergraduate Research received a grant from WiscAMP that aims to provide professional development opportunities (e.g., conference attendance/presentation) for under-represented minority students (African American/Black, Latino/Hispanic, Native American or Alaskan Native, Hawaiian Native or other Pacific Islander) in STEM.
In fall 2016, one of the activities we have planned is to take students to attend/present at the LSMCE conference on Oct 28 – 29, 2016. Apart from an opportunity to present their work (or attend presentations by fellow students), there are also workshops/seminars on professional development. In last year’s LSMCE conference, a team of students from Computer Science won the 4th place in student presentations among the more than 100 presentations, some of whom were from Masters level students. I believe this was a great experience for all.
One you finish the application you can take our Computer Science Principles exam. When this exam is passed you will have an opportunity to take one or all of our exams in the following areas: C++, Python, Visual Basic, or Java.
